The court’s poser came after the agency replied to nine questions posed by the CBI judge on an earlier occasion when he had frowned at the snail’s pace of investigation in the case.
Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal recalled that because of this FIR, which led to a public spat between 2 top CBI officers in 2018, the investigating officer and Special Director Rakesh Asthana had to “endure agony” for a long time
Special CBI judge Sanjeev Aggarwal had last month frowned at slow progress in the February 2017 case registered against millionaire meat exporter Moin Qureshi
The special CBI court also agreed with the agency’s decision to absolve deputy superintendent of police Devender Kumar, and summoned Dubai-based brothers Manoj and Somesh Prasad as accused in the case.
The acceptance of clean chit comes as a major relief for Rakesh Asthana, who has claimed since day one that “fabricated” FIR was filed against him at the behest of Alok Verma.
