UP election candidate shot dead, his brother injured over political enmity

The brothers were shot on Monday evening in the Belghat area of the Gorakhpur district and one of them later died at the BRD Medical College Hospital, the UP police said.
A police team led by Superintendent of Police (South) AK Singh soon reached the spot and rushed the brothers to the hospital where Sanjay died. (Representational Image)

Gorakhpur child deaths case: Dr Kafeel demands removal of 2 UP ministers

Dr Kafeel Khan, the doctor who was jailed in connection with child deaths in chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s home town Gorakhpur in 2017, on Tuesday demanded that health minister Siddharth Nath Singh and medical education minister Ashutosh Tandon should be removed from their posts.
“The health minister Siddharth Nath Singh and medical education minister Ashutosh Tandon, besides all those who ignored the letters sent to them about shortage of oxygen in BRD Medical College, are responsible for the death of 70 children in the hospital. Ironically, those responsible are monitoring the probe in this tragedy.”

Some unidentified people stole photocopies of doctors’ degrees from the Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College office in Gorakhpur and sold them to others who used these papers to run two fake pathology labs, people familiar with the matter said.
