Directing the Bengal government to furnish information regarding any further FIR registered against Suvendu Adhikari, the Calcutta high court said the state will have to obtain permission before arresting him or taking any coercive action against him in all such cases.

The NHRC informed the Calcutta high court that victims of the West Bengal post-poll violence are being threatened to withdraw their complaints. As many as 16 such cases have been reported, the commission said, adding that the matter has been forwarded to the director-general of police.
