One of the surprise picks in Monday’s cabinet expansion of the state government was Anil Parab, a shrewd backroom operator who is the Sena’s go-to man for everything – legal battles, day-to-day activities and strategising for the elections. Recently, the well-known lawyer played a major role in coordinating with the lawyers in the Supreme Court during the battle for the formation of the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government comprising three parties — the Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress.

Maharashtra: Devendra Fadnavis, Sena leader meet Governor amid tussle

<p>Devendra Fadnavis met Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Governor of Maharashtra, on Monday. Tweeting about the meeting, Fadnavis said that he extended Diwali greetings and apprised Koshyari about the 'current scenario'. Half an hour before the Bharatiya Janata Party leader, a Shiv Sena member had met the Governor. Diwakar Raote said that he met Koshyari only to wish him for Diwali. Allies BJP and Sena are currently locked in a tussle to decide the power-sharing formula in Maharashtra. BJP secured 105 seats, while Sena won 56, in the recently concluded Assembly elections.</p>

State transport minister writes to Nitin Gadkari; No hefty fines for Maharashtra for some time

Considering the Assembly elections are scheduled for October, the state government is riding cautiously on the issue.

Maharashtra state transport buses get vehicle trackers and info system

Raote said that the systems will increase MSRTC’s passengers by 10-12%. “The system will be helpful for passengers. It will also make state transport staffs more disciplined,” said Raote.
According to MSRTC officials, it will take another six months to install VTS and PIS systems on all the buses in its fleet.(HT image)

Thane bullet train station reworked to save mangroves: Authority

Earlier, Maharashtra Transport Minister had said as many as 54,000 mangroves spread over 13.36 hectares will be affected because of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.

54K mangroves to be razed in Maharashtra for Ahmedabad bullet train project
