The Supreme Court has ordered the immediate release of a 25-year-old woman who was illegally detained by her parents in Bengaluru. The court declared the detention "illegal" and directed the parents to return the woman's passport and other documents within 48 hours. The court emphasized that decisions regarding relationships and career choices should be made by the individual, not the court or parents. The court also criticized the Karnataka high court for adjourning the case multiple times and failing to ensure the woman's release.
