Firecracker noise hit 117dB in city

Maximum noise levels of 117 dB were recorded during Diwali celebrations in Mumbai, with noise pollution exceeding legal limits before and after the designated time window for fireworks. The Awaaz Foundation and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board documented the noise levels at various locations in the city.

Taraporewala Aquarium ‘unsafe’, fisheries dept shifts to Nariman Point

Mumbai's state fisheries department has moved its headquarters from the Taraporewala Aquarium to Mittal Tower due to concerns over the weakened foundations of the iconic building caused by ongoing work on the Coastal Road project. There are currently no plans to revive the building for tourism or administrative purposes. The future of the building, including whether it will be torn down or restored, is yet to be decided.

SoBo residents write to BMC over colour scheme for Art Deco buildings on Marine Drive

Stressing on the fact that Art Deco buildings were built by some of the country’s first architects practising in independent India, the letter stated that their design principles for the heritage buildings in the immediate surrounding should be maintained so that it honours them.

This photo taken on November 8, 2017 shows the Marine Drive seafront in Mumbai. The seafront is lined with brightly coloured buildings boasting curved corners, stylish balconies and exotic motifs but this isn't Miami's famous Art Deco district -- it's Mumbai.
