The court had earlier framed various charges, including criminal conspiracy to commit rape and penetrative sexual assault, against 21 people in the case.

Muzaffarpur shelter home ‘survivor’ turns hostile in court

The alleged survivor, who is one of the prosecution witnesses in the case, was declared hostile before Additional Sessions Judge Saurabh Kulshreshtha, after she failed to recognise two of the accused, the court sources said.

Bihar to seek Supreme Court directive on retaining Muzaffarpur shelter girls

The social welfare department now finds itself in a piquant situation, as to whether to allow the girls to go home or retain them in shelters to protect them from being influenced by vested interests.
Currently, a trial in the case under the prevention of children from sexual offences (POCSO) act is underway at a lower court in Saket, Delhi. The case is being monitored by the Supreme Court.(File)

Those refusing to entertain the guests were offered only roti and salt at night, while those who danced were given good food.To be sure, the charge sheet is silent on the roles of officials who, despite knowing about the horrors in the shelter home, could not protect the girls.

Demolition of Muzaffarpur shelter home ordered by city civic body

Municipal commissioner, Muzaffarpur, Sanjay Dubey, has asked the owner of the shelter home to pull down the entire ground plus three-storey structure within a month or by December 10. The structure was made in gross violation of the prevalent building bylaws and against the building plan that was sanctioned in 2004.

Tread cautiously in reporting rape: Supreme Court to media

The Supreme Court observations were made as it lifted the ban imposed by the Patna high court on August 23 on media reporting in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case, where at least 30 girls were allegedly raped and sexually abused over a period of time.
