Police in Gurugram have charged 20 residents of Bhora Kalan village in Pataudi for blocking the Pataudi-Bilaspur Road and attacking police when they tried to intervene. Villagers have been protesting against a local liquor store, which opened on 12 June. They claim that drunken men who purchase alcohol from the store cause disruption and are abusive to local residents. The police have identified the suspects and said that they will be arrested soon.
Three women workers died and four others were injured after a mound of mud fell on them while digging a pond in the village of Dararpur in Pataudi, India. The women had been working at the site for six months under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme and had no safety gear. The deceased were aged 30, 40 and 45 and had been identified by their first names. The injured women were taken to hospital, and a compensation package will be provided in line with the MGNREGA Act.
