Mumbai harbour line: This is because an engine of goods train failed at Kurla railway station on the harbour railway platform. The failure occurred at 2.45 pm and was rectified and engine was removed at 3.15 pm.

A new railway station for the bullet train will be built over the existing railway lines on the eastern side above platform no 10, 11 and 12. The bullet train corridor will have 12 stations across its 508-km stretch between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

The PWD is also the custodian authority of the road leading from Krishna Chowk (near Palam Vihar C 1 Block) to Delhi via Bajghera railway crossing, New Palam Vihar and Bijwasan, on which the flyover is being built. A team of PWD officials inspected progress of the work on Friday.

This will enable commuters walking on the RoB to directly reach Parel station’s platforms without having to go through Prabhadevi railway station, which falls on the adjacent Western Railway (WR) line.

After the accident, the tractor driver fled, leaving the vehicle at Vidyapuri locality. Agitated locals blocked the Hilsa-fatuha railway line, halting the Islampur-hatia express for a few minutes.

The Indian Railways, which is set to execute its toughest project till date, has begun discussion on special coaches for the world’s highest railway line, which will run at an elevation of 5,360 metres above the sea level.
The railways will study specification of coaches used in the Qinghai-Tibet line in China, before manufacturing these coaches. The Qinghai-Tibet line is at an elevation of 2,000 metres above sea level.(HT/Picture for representation)
