Swachh Survekshan 2020: Mysuru had won the award for the cleanest city of India in the first edition of the survey, while Indore has retained the top position for three consecutive years (2017,2018, 2019).

Minister of Civil Aviation of India Hardeep Singh Puri is going to announce the results of Swachh Survekshan 2020 today at 11am. This is the fifth edition of India’s cleanliness survey.

A total of 425 urban local bodies from across the country had participated in this year’s Swachh Survekshan. Ghaziabad has improved a lot as is evident from its ranking from last year, when the city had the 351st position nationally.

Swati Singh Sambyal, programme manager, solid waste management at Centre for Science and Environment, said, “The rankings hold up a mirror for the MCDs. They are not focusing on implementing the Solid Waste Management Byelaws 2016. There is no segregation, the only emphasis is on waste to energy plants.”
