Shashank Vyas, who shot to fame after playing the role of Jagya, in the popular daily soap Balika Vadhu, is now garnering accolades for his second big show on the small screen. And Shashank says that he has now got more clarity on the kind of roles he wants to play on the small screen.

“I want to see myself doing more of realistic work, and where the male actor has substantial part to play. I have seen many shows, where the male actors are just standing there like furniture, and I don’t want to do that because I know my craft well. Also, that’s the confidence I have gained after working in the TV industry for over six years now,” says Shashank.

The actor asserts that it was not a conscious decision to chalk out his career in the direction that it’s going in right now. “I never imagined I would get to play the kind of characters that I have been offered so far. Things work in a click and now I have to work on it and choose my scripts carefully,” says Shashank, who is currently seen playing the role of Ravish Vashisht in the show Jaana Na dil Se Door.

Besides daily soaps, reality shows on TV seem to be fast picking and have become a trend of sorts in the recent past. Shashank, however, says reality TV is not on his to-do list as of now. “I want to act first, and reality shows are certainly not about that. It’s not that I won’t do reality shows, but it’s not my priority at the moment. Right now, I would love to work in a theatre play and grow as an artist,” adds the actor.
