From Kareena Kapoor Khan’s character in Jab We Met to Salman Khan’s avatar in Dabangg, small screen stars have stepped into the shoes of Bollywood actors. Here are some of them that have been popular on the telly and have caught the attention of the viewers.
Film stars often isnpire the way we dress and behave.
But, of late, their mannersims and style statements (on and off screen) seem to be influencing characters on TV.
From Kareena Kapoor Khan’s character in Jab We Met (JWM, 2007) to Salman Khan’s avatar in Dabangg (2010) and Bodyguard (2011), small screen stars have stepped into the shoes of Bollywood actors at various junctures. Here are some of them that have been popular on the telly and have caught the attention of the viewers.

Paridhi in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s shoesParidhi Sharma, who plays Jodha in the show, Jodha Akbar, reminds us of Aishwarya from the 2008 film of the same name. The makers of the show have ensured that Paridhi wears the clothes and jewellery that look similar to Aishwarya’s from the film. |
Qasim turns Jack SparrowIn The Adventures of Hatim, Krishna Singh Bisht plays Qasim, who reminds us of Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp’s famous character) from Pirates Of The Caribbean series. His look is characterised by braided hair, kohl eyes and scruffy attire, similar to Depp’s. |
Vivian modelled on SalmanVivian Dsena’s character of a superstar, RK, in Madhubala was modelled on Salman Khan. RK was moody and unpredictable, quite similar to Salman’s disposition. Though the makers and Vivian claimed that Salman was not the inspiration, the resemblance was too striking to go unnoticed. |
Abhishek Awasthi – a Salman fanAbhishek Awasthi plays a Salman Khan fan, Ghabroo, in Kaise Yeh Ishq Hai. He imitates the way Salman walks and talks in Dabangg. He even wears Salman’s trademark bracelet. |
Lara Croft inspires Iris MaityThe glamorous cop in Shapath Supercops Vs Supervillains not only apes the look of Angelina Jolie’s character in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), but the character is also called Lara. Actor Iris Maity’s look is similar to Angelina’s and she uses futuristic weapons in the show. |
Drashti Dhami in Kareena’s avatarKareena’s character of Geet in Jab We Met is remembered for being chirpy and talkative. And Drashti’s character in Madhubala seems to have drawn inspiration from that. Like Geet, Madhu (Drashti’s character) talks in her sleep and every character in the show comments on her talkativeness. |
