After a long hiatus from television, actor Hussain Kuwajerwala will return to the small screen to host the sixth season of the singing-based reality show, Indian Idol on Sony.

Hussain confirms his comeback saying, “Yes, I am back and I’ll be hosting the show. The auditions will start in March in various cities. I am looking forward to it. Indian Idol has always been exciting. Through the show, you get to meet new contestants, singers and people with new dreams. The entire season will be exciting. Since I return to Idol after almost two years, I want to make the most of it.”

Hussain returns to the show with his co-host from season three, Mini Mathur. Having hosted three seasons of the reality show, Hussain has been associated with the show for the longest time among all hosts. About his comeback, he says, “I don’t about the reasons but I am happy that I am back. I am an anchor-actor and will accept when offered good work. Perhaps they appreciated my work in earlier seasons and called me back. Honestly, I didn’t give it much thought,” he says.

Ever since he replaced Vivek Oberoi as lead in the Broadway-styled musical, Zangoora at Delhi’s Kingdom of Dreams, in mid-2010, Hussain has been absent from the small screen. He says, “The appreciation I received for Zangoora has been unparalleled. People from TV and film world have commended my performance in the show, which means a lot to me.”

Hussain, who has done 450 shows of the 600 stagings till date, plans to continue doing the musical. “It will be tough, but I plan to manage Idol and Zangoora together,” he adds.
