Madhura Naik sheds light on the Shakuntala story. After the show’s creative head, Ira Suryavanshi, lashed out, Naik states that she quit the show because it was difficult to manage shoot schedules in Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

“I was shooting for two Balaji shows, Kayamath and Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil, in Mumbai. I was tired working round the clock,” she says.

To Suryavanshi’s comment about Naik asking for a fatter paycheck, the actress says, “I didn’t. I had asked for an appropriate fee before I started shooting. And there never was a contract.”

Naik adds, “I had put down certain clauses which I wanted in the contract, which still hasn’t arrived. I’d asked the production house to sign a letter assuring that my clauses will be part of the contract. They never signed it.”

The actress claims that she didn’t have a choice but to terminate her services because the production house had started negotiating on her remuneration 15 days after the shooting began. She concludes, “What else could I do then? And then, I’m labelled unprofessional.”
