Aslam says that the channel and the producers approached her with a lot of respect. "I don’t think I’m any less abled than my peers. I want to show the world that one’s weaknesses can be turned into aces," she says, admitting, that she was often ridiculed in school and college. "But height doesn’t determine the heights to which a person can rise."
The debutant actor, depending on the kind of offers she gets, may or may not continue acting. She aspires to be a doctor.
When asked how she landed the role, Aslam recalls, "The casting co-ordinator spotted me outside my college. He asked if I’d want to act, I laughed at the idea."
But he persisted and requested her to introduce him to her parents. “I knew then that he was serious,” she says, adding that her mother was initially hesitant, but her father and grandmother wanted her to get this exposure on TV.
The actor’s first audition was recorded on a mobile phone, following which she started shooting in Mumbai and in Agra. Since the primetime show revolves around finding a perfect match for Bharti, what are Aslam’s views on marriage? “I don’t want to get married,” she retorts. “I have responsibilities towards my parents. I don’t want to get distracted.”
