Shweta Rohira releases her first book inspired by what she has learned from films

Salman Khan’s Rakhi sister, actor-turned-author Shweta Rohira says she has sent a copy of her debut book to Salman as well.

Every time she watches a film, actor Shweta Rohira makes it a point to by heart a few dialogues and the lessons she takes away from it, and applies them to real life situations. And she has now gone a step further and written her first book, Filmy Chick: Psychofilmising Life, around the lessons she has learned so far from films.

“It’s a millennial read and a fiction inspired from movies. The book is actually born out of me. I personally learn a lot from every film that I watch. They teach us lesson to live our day-to-day life. So, I wanted to share lessons of life via the book,” says Shweta, who has been writing since she was a child.

“From childhood, mom had made it a habit that I write a diary and also read books. So, it has been a childhood dream to write a book one day,” adds Shweta, who also enjoys writing poetry. Would she someday want to publish a book of poems or venture into writing film scripts? “I have no idea as I live one day at a time. So you never know,” she quips.

Shweta shares that she is planning to send copies of the book to all her loved ones, including her Rakhi brother Salman Khan. “There is a reference of Prem (Salman’s most popular onscreen name) in the book... I would be sending a copy to bhai and all my dear ones. Their reaction is very important for me,” she shares.

On the work front, Shweta was last seen in the play Bharat Dabholkar’s That’s My Girl and the short film, Saurabh Pandey’s Spotless. Asked about the kind of projects she is keen on doing next, she says, “I’m open to work in TV as well as Bollywood. Never say never... I did a short film and theatre and that worked out well. TV offers have started coming in but it has to be substantial enough.”

And if given a chance to adapt a book into a film, she adds, “I would go for F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby or Nicholas Sparks’ A Walk to Remember. My favourite authors are Nicholas Sparks, Mitch Albom and Ashwin Sanghi.”
