Two months ago, we reported that Jagya, initially played by Avinash Mukherji and now by Shashank Vyas, had fallen in love with Gauri (Anjum Farooqi) outside of his marriage, while he was pursuing his medical studies. Eventually he left his wife Anandi, first played by Avika Gor and now by Pratyusha Bannerjee, and moved in with his girlfriend. When his family found out about his parallel life, they disowned him. But now, Gauri and Jagya will be seen tying the knot discreetly.

The show’s writer Purnendu Shekhar says, “The idea is to bring out the ill-effects of child marriage. Couples falling out of love is one of the biggest and most common outcomes of bal-vivahs (child marriages) that are rampant in our country.”

Before taking the decision to tie the knot, Gauri discovers that Jagya’s grandmother had tried to get them married to each other as children. But since at that time Anandi was Jagya’s wife, the local governing body nullified the alliance, calling it illegal and bigamous, leaving Gauri at the altar. After learning that it was because of Jagya that she had to face all that humiliation as a child, Gauri agrees to get married, but this time with the intention of seeking revenge.
