After months of speculations, it is now certain that Sunil Grover is returning on television with his own comedy show. His show will replace Krushna Abhishek’s The Drama Company. Further, the news is that Kiku Sharda and Ali Asgar too will form a part of this new show.
According to a Times of India report, Sunil Grover’s show will feature Kiku Sharda, Ali Asgar, Sugandha Mishra and a few other actors from The Drama Company.
The report further adds that Kiku and Sunil have already begun rehearsing for the series.
Comedian Sunil Grover walked out of the highly successful The Kapil Sharma Show (TKSS) after Kapil shouted at him in March this year on a fight from Australia to Mumbai.
Since Sunil’s exit the popular television comedy show’s TRP took a major beating. Coupled to that, Kapil’s health problem meant that the show would not remain the same. There were rumours that the show would be taken off air.
In September, TKSS was finally taken off air, owing to Kapil’s poor health and The Drama Company filled in for the prime time slot at 9pm and their 8pm slot was set aside for repeat telecast of the TKSS. But now when The Drama Company’s contract is ending, it looks like Sunil is on his way back.
A source close to the production unit had earlier told HT, “Drama Company was always supposed to have only 26 episodes and all artists were signed for a limited period only. And on September 30, Super Dancer was to replace it. But since the host channel, Sony Entertainment, has already replaced TKSS with Krushna’s show, they need to bring a new [comedy] show. So, Sunil is working on a show and negotiations are on with the channel. Also, the channel is giving Kapil time to recuperate, considering his health issues, and that’s the reason they are looking at Sunil for a new show.”
