In the ongoing Aadhaar hearing at the Supreme Court, the bench headed by CJI Dipak Misra told the government that the unique identification number (Aadhaar) will not be able to stop bank frauds. The CJI rapped the centre for stating that one of the provisions of Aadhaar was to prevent bank frauds, saying that bank officials are hand in glove with the fraudsters. The government is facing heat from Opposition over the Rs 13,000 crore Punjab National Bank scam whose main accused is businessman Nirav Modi.
