6 parties skip Opposition meet on CAA, economy; BJP slams ‘vote bank politics’

A meeting of Opposition parties was held in the national capital to discuss issues like Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, National Register of Citizens, and the state of the economy. As many as 20 parties participated in the meeting, as per reports. Congress leaders at the meeting included Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, and Manmohan Singh. Nationalist Congress Party's Sharad Pawar and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also attended the meeting. However, there were some notable absentees including Trinamool Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party, Aam Aadmi Party, Shiv Sena, and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
