Sikh history not “expunged” from textbooks: Punjab CM to Akali Dal
Updated on May 01, 2018 04:22 pm IST
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has claimed that “the history of Sikhs and Punjab is being diluted” in Punjab State Education Board's history textbooks with 23 chapters of information about the Sikh Gurus and historical facts about Punjab in the class 12 textbooks were reduced to “half-page descriptions about the glorious period of Sikh history”. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh rejected the allegations and warned the SAD and Aam Aadmi Party against harming the state's interests by playing with religious sentiments. He has said that no chapter was expunged but rather moved to the class 11 textbooks to align the PSEB's syllabus with the NCERT syllabus.
