More than 100 business schools applied for closure in 2017-18 as they are battling vacant seats and a dip in campus placements. These schools offer MBA degrees and postgraduate diplomas in business administration. Data with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) showed that a total of 101 management institutes wrote to it seeking voluntary closure. 37 institutes were from Uttar Pradesh followed by 10 each from Karnataka and Maharashtra and 7 in Haryana. This could roughly extinguish 10,000 seats.
