Fire at Hitler’s ‘Eagle’s Nest’ in Germany, Man Detained on Arson Suspicion
A fire broke out on October 23 at Germany’s historic Eagle’s Nest, a former Nazi guest house perched high above Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps. Police suspect arson and detained a man, but the exact cause of the blaze and the suspect’s involvement remain unclear. Around 200 firefighters and emergency personnel battled the fire at the site, officially known as Kehlsteinhaus. Built in 1938 for Nazi officials and guests, the building was occasionally used by Adolf Hitler and now operates as a mountain restaurant.
