'From Modi to India bashing…': BJP's slays Hamid Ansari for remarks at US event

• The BJP has lashed out at former vice president Hamid Ansari over his remarks at an event organised by the US based Muslim forum. On January 26, Hamid Ansari participated in a virtual event organised by Indian American Muslim Council based on the theme “Protecting India’s Pluralist Constitution”. Criticising India’s recent record on protecting human rights, civil liberties and religious freedom, Hamid Ansari warned that the country is steering away from its constitutional values. While speaking at the event, Hamid Ansari raised concerns over electoral majority in the guise of a religious majority and human rights situation in India. A United States senator, three US Congressmen, the chair of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom were also a part of the discussion. Calling out Ansari's remarks on cultural nationalism in India, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Ansari had insulted India on a global platform and claimed that the madness for Prime Minister Narendra Modi bashing is turning into a conspiracy for India bashing.
