Guntur: CM Jagan paints Jinnah Tower in Tricolour; BJP pushes for name change

- The YSR Congress government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh, painted the iconic Jinnah Tower in the heart of Guntur in tricolour. The development comes a week after HIndu Vahini activists were detained for trying to unfurl the National Flag in the area on January 26. YSR Congress MLA Mohammed Musthafa said, “On the request of various groups, it was decided to decorate the tower with the tricolour and to construct a pole to hoist the national flag near the tower.” The move comes amid BJP's constant demand for a name change of the tower. The BJP has been demanding to name the tower after late Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam. The BJP has now termed the move to paint Jinnah tower as lip-service by Jagan Mohan Reddy.
