11 lions found dead in Gujarat’s Gir forest

11 lions have died in Gir forest in Gujarat in the past 11 days. These deaths are alarming due to its large numbers. The bodies of the lions were also sent for post-mortem. According to the forest department, three lion cubs aged between five to nine months died during treatment on September 18. Two were under treatment in Jasadhar animal care centre and one was in Junagadh Veterinary College. Veterinary Forest Officer Hitesh Vamja, informed that, “All of them have died due to lung infection. Cause of infection isn't known as yet. We're giving preventive medicines to other lions so that they don't get affected.”
