‘Congress as a party not involved in 1984 riots,’ says Punjab CM Amrinder Singh

Updated on Aug 28, 2018 12:21 pm IST

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has defended Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's remarks on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Rahul Gandhi's comment in London about “no Congress involvement” in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots has caused political convulsions back home, especially in Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh limited the party's role in the riots to the involvement of five leaders he named in the assembly. Amarinder Singh said the Congress chief was in school when Operation Bluestar and later the riots took place and to blame him for 'anything' was totally absurd.
