In an exclusive conversation with Hindustan Times, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar told the residents of Jammu and Kashmir to not worry amid uncertainty and concern over the security situation. A litany of government orders, like instructions to Amarnath yatris and tourists to immediately return, have caused alarm in the state. The government maintains that the cause is intel alert of a terror conspiracy. Javadekar also called Jammu and Kashmir a 'success story' of the Modi government. He cited the example of panchayat elections and other outreach programmes such as 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat', and scholarships for Kashmiri students to claim that progress is taking place at the grassroot level.
