Mamata Banerjee slams NRC Final draft

Mamata Banerjee slammed the NRC final draft by stating that the Assam government and the center played “divide and rule” politics. “We cannot push them back. We believe in humanity,” Mamata said at a press conference in Kolkata soon after Assam NRC's final draft was released by central and state government officials. The final draft has recognised 2,89,83,677 people as citizens of India, leaving out more than 40 lakh applicants. State and central government officials have repeatedly said that those left out of the final draft will have the opportunity to appeal and present objections.
