‘Meaningless’: Congress MP on Union ministers’ plan to visit J&K

Updated on Mar 16, 2020 09:44 pm IST

Indian National Congress' Ghulam Nabi Azad commented on the Central government's plan to send a delegation of ministers to Jammu and Kashmir later this month. The Congress parliamentarian claimed that the visit would be meaningless as he cited two instances of foreign teams visiting the Union Territory since the Centre revoked J&K's special status. Azad said that the delegations were made to meet people briefed by the Centre, and not civil society and trade and commerce bodies. He also said that politicians continue to remain under detention in the erstwhile state.
