about the video

On his first foreign trip after being re-elected, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Maldives. He was received in Male’s Republic Square by the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, following which PM Modi inspected a ceremonial guard of honour. Then, the two leaders proceeded to a meeting. PM Modi will also be conferred with Maldives’ highest honour for foreign dignitaries, the ‘Rule of Nishan Izzuddeen’. PM’s visit to Maldives signals the emphasis by the National Democratic Alliance government on its ‘act east’ and ‘neighbourhood first’ policy.
