Uttar Pradesh IPS officer consumes poison, condition critical

A young Indian Police Service (IPS) officer has allegedly attempted suicide at his official residence in Kanpur. Surendra Kumar Das was found unconscious at home early on Wednesday morning by policemen assigned to him. He was rushed to a city hospital where he is being treated for poisoning. “His condition is very very critical,” said Dr Rajesh Agarwal, the chief medical superintendent of Kanpur's Regency Hospital told reporters. The doctor said the 30-year-old police officer was brought to the hospital in a very serious condition at about 6 am. His pulse was very faint and had a very low blood pressure. The officer was immediately put on life support system and is being treated for suspected poisoning.
