Why did DMK want Karunanidhi to be buried at Marina Beach?
Updated on Aug 08, 2018 07:23 pm IST
When it comes to Dravidian politics, the Marina beach in Chennai is not an ordinary cemetery but the final resting place of iconic politicians. Three former chief ministers are buried there - CN Annadurai, MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, who died last year. The DMK, Tamil Nadu's chief opposition party, wants its leader M Karunanidhi buried within the Anna memorial or Anna samadhi, where his mentor, Annadurai, is buried. Karunanidhi died on Tuesday at the age of 94. In the court hearing on Wednesday, DMK said, “All we need is 6X6 foot land for a tall leader, nothing else.”
