The Citizenship Amendment Bill seeks to make it easier to grant citizenship to persecuted minorities from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Passed by the Lok Sabha on Monday, the bill is being opposed tooth and nail by the opposition and activists alike. The Congress says that CAB is arbitrary and will be struck down in a court of law if challenged. Supreme Court advocate Atishi Dipankar however has a different legal view.
