3,500 spins in one hour: Whirling dancer breaks world record
Updated on Mar 30, 2015 01:30 am IST
A whirling dancer smashed a new world record by spinning more than 3,500 times in just one hour. Nicole McLaren completed the dizzying achievement using the dance form Sufi Whirling. The spiralling 33-year-old achieved a total of 3,552 whirls in 60 minutes, battering the previous total of 2,905. Nicole, from Zurich, Switzerland, says the secret to her rotating record is endless practice – and not getting dizzy. Nicole said: 'I was so happy and relieved to set a new record.' Sufi whirling first started in Persia in the 12th Century and is best known for its connection to the Whirling Dervishes.
