Bad weather spoilt onion crops: Pawar
Updated on Jan 18, 2011 09:01 pm IST
Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar on Monday blamed unprecedented rains for the loss of productivity of onions and other vegetables resulting in the inflation of food items. He was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the Centre of Excellence for vegetable, built under the Israel-India cooperation in Karnal district of Haryana. Calling the current round of spiraling prices of foodstuff as a temporary phase, Pawar said importing vegetables is not an easy task.
