Farmers engaged in cultivation of betel leaves in Belowa, Madhya Pradesh are facing problems and are forced to grow other crops or take up other means of livelihood. This situation has come about as the demand for betel leaves has reduced considerably during the years. A major factor that has led to the slump in demand for betel leaves has been the increasing rate of gutka consumption in the domestic market.
