Campaigning tempo picks up in India

Hectic campaigning by candidates and leaders of various political parties was witnessed all over India on Tuesday ahead of the multi-phased polls scheduled to be conducted between April 16 and May 13 to elect a new parliament. Chief of Congress party Sonia Gandhi, while addressing a rally at Vijayanagaram in Andhra Pradesh state hit out at her opponents. In particular, she was critical of Lal Krishna Advani, the prime ministerial candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
