Community support needed to conserve biodiversity: Jairam

While addressing the silver jubilee celebration of Silent Valley National Park in Kerala on Sunday Minister of Environment and Forest, Jairam Ramesh called for community participation to conserve biodiversity and to protect the environment. Ramesh also mentioned that the central Government is ready to sanction 50 million rupees, once the project proposal is received for the proposed Silent Valley-based Indira Gandhi International Biodiversity Research Centre to be set up to study the Western Ghats. He said that the year 2010 will be dedicated to bio-diversity.
