Congress asks SL to extradite LTTE head

India's ruling Congress party on Saturday asked Sri Lanka to extradite LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran to stand trial in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. An Indian court has convicted Prabhakaran of masterminding Rajiv Gandhi's assassination and India formally requested his extradition. Meanwhile reacting to Sri Lankan troops capturing the Tamil Tigers' de facto capital of Kilinochchi, General Secretary of regional MDMK party, said that rebels would recapture their lost land.
