India's election commission issued notices on December 9, to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for calling Narendra Modi "Merchant of Death". The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party had earlier lodged a complaint against Gandhi for equating Modi with the same term. Congress party's general secretary Digvijay Singh was also served notice for his remarks on 'Hindu terrorism' in Gujarat. Singh however, denied making any comment on Hindu terrorism.
