Updated on Feb 18, 2012 03:54 pm IST
After union law minister Salman Khurshid, Union steel minister Beni Prasad Verma has been served a notice by the Election Commission for violating the model code of conduct for promising sub-quota for Muslims. Addressing a political rally at Kayamganj Assembly constituency in Farrukhabad district on Wednesday, Verma had said reservation for Muslims would be increased if the Congress came to power in the state. The decision comes after the election watchdog went through the video of the rally where Beni is said to have raked up the issue.
