Fear loomed large in Mumbai on Thursday morning, following serial blasts that claimed at least 21 lives and injured 141 people. Three near-simultaneous explosions shook crowded districts of the city during rush hour on Wednesday evening around 6.45 pm in the biggest militant attack since 2008. The blast took place at the Opera House, a tourist destination in south Mumbai and at the Zaveri Bazaar, the coastal city's diamond hub. Another blast occurred at Dadar, a popular lower-middle-class shopping area.
