GJM shutdown for Gorkhaland demand cripples life in Darjeeling

Life came to a standstill in Darjeeling, as regional party Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) called for a complete shutdown pressing their demand for a separate Gorkhaland state. On August 31 hundreds of residents thronged shops in Darjeeling after GJM relaxed its ongoing indefinite strike for a day to offer some relief.
