Govt defends appointment of new CBI chief

The Congress-led UPA government on Saturday stood by its appointment of Ranjit Sinha as the new chief of CBI, saying that the decision was taken after following stipulated procedures. MoS, Prime Minister's Office (PMO), V Narayanasamy, told mediapersons in Chennai that while the government had 'done its duty' as far as procedure was concerned, the BJP's allegations were unacceptable.
