Govt’s petrol hike sparks widespread protests

Commuters and activists of BJP protested across the country against the central government's decision to hike the petrol price and called for its immediate rollback. BJP activists in Bangalore came out in droves and shouted anti-government slogans as mark of their protest. Meanwhile, the members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) too demonstrated on the streets of Chennai. Shiv Sena activists in Jammu demonstrated by shouting anti-government slogans. Slamming the government, Janata Dal United President Sharad Yadav announced for a nationwide shutdown by the members of the party.
