India celebrates 61st Republic Day amid tight security

India on Tuesday celebrated its 61st Republic Day draped in a heavy security curtain.Prime Minister Manmohan Singh paid tributes to the war heroes at the war memorial in New Delhi.This year,South Korean President Lee Myung-bak was the chief guest at the parade,in a nod to his country's growing bilateral business ties with India.He watched the tanks and armoured cars roll by and fighter jets roar over the heads of thousands of people attending the celebrations.
