Kochi observes 12-hour shutdown against FDI

Shops and markets in Kochi wore a deserted look on Wednesday as traders called for a 12 hour shutdown against the central government's recent decision to open retail sector for foreign investors. Media reports say that another reason for the shutdown is the implementation of the Food Safety Act 2006.
