Mulayam Singh Yadav put under house arrest, released

As Samajwadi party launched protest against the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh; the Lucknow police placed SP's national President Mulayam Singh Yadav and his on Akhilesh Yadav under house arrest in Lucknow. They were not allowed to go to airport and board a flight for attending Lok Sabha proceedings. Yadav shot off a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar protesting against his house arrest today. However after strong protests by SP workers and amidst reports that they had locked the annexe, Yadav was released. He later boarded flight for Delhi and while leaving the house, Yadav said he would raise the issue in the Lok Sabha. However, Lucknow administration claimed that no restrictions were imposed on Yadav.
