Occupy Wall Street rallies culminate in NY

Updated on Nov 18, 2011 03:27 pm IST

Thousands of Occupy Wall Street protesters took to the Brooklyn Bridge in New York on Thursday evening capping a day of marches and acts of civil disobedience that resulted in more than 200 arrests. The march across the bridge took place without any major incidents, with protesters walking on the pedestrian walkway and not disrupting the vehicular traffic below. Protesters say they are upset that billions of dollars in bailouts given to banks during the recession allowed a return to huge profits while average Americans have had no relief from high unemployment and a struggling economy.
